"I began WIS in 1981, after a travel adventure through Southeast Asia.  I ended my 8-month sojourn in Bali and became aware of the beginning industry.  This was even before batik had become popular.  Over the years, I discovered I actually had a good design sense for fabric and loved making batik designs.

It was during a large production while watching the women clean up the scraps after cutting patterns that I decided to create the PATCHWORK LINE.  The idea of throwing away all the pieces of material was horrific.  I figured it would be fun to put color scraps together and make garments."
